Action Step #1 – Your hero or heroine is alone in an elevator with a chatty person. How does your character respond? What facial expressions do they make? What are their thoughts? Do they gesture? Fidget? Do they engage the chatty person, ignore them or are they blunt and tell them to shut up?
Action Step #2 – Your hero or heroine is in an airplane that’s about to crash, how do they react?
The key here is to place your character in unusual and potentially stressful situations so you can get to know them, how they respond to situations and what their true nature is. That way, when you’re writing your bestselling romance novel, you know your character inside and out and they will be consistent.
