I saw this graphic on Facebook yesterday and shared it. In my experience it’s true. Though great things happen to us every day, great things happen when we do work hard to make them happen.

Today was a perfect example of this in action. I’ve been busting my butt for almost a full year to learn “kipping pull-ups.” They’re a type of CrossFit pull-up that requires a challenging technique but when you learn how to do them, you can bang out 20, 30, 40, 50 and more pull-ups. Yep, some workouts have 100 pull-ups in them and there’s no way most people can do that without kipping.

So today, after months of trying just about every cue I could find, watching countless videos on how to kip and practicing my butt off I finally got it.

It got me to thinking about writing and how important it is to keep trying. To keep working toward your writing goals because you will make progress. If your goal is to publish, keep writing. Work your butt off. Good things will come.
