I’ve always been a Charlaine Harris fan, since the Sookie Stackhouse series. Those were wonderful books and I completely lost myself in the character and story. (Seriously, if you haven’t read these books, you can get the 1st book in the 13 book series for $2.99 on your Kindle. It’s MORE than worth it. The first book is called Dead Until Dark.)

At any rate, I haven’t been able to get into any of her other books until I read An Easy Death (Gunnie Rose book 1). It’s the first book in a trilogy. The protagonist is a 19 year old gunnie, a job that requires her to protect people or things. Gunnies, as you might imagine, shoot people to protect. Rose is tough, funny, romantic and introspective. The story is set in a world where the United States has been divided up into new territories. There are magic Russian Wizards, gunslingers, battles for survival, and of course the perfect touch of romance. I absolutely loved the entire series and read all three books in just over a week.

Highly recommended – An Easy Death by Charlaine Harris
